The most common type of household mold is Aspergillus, Cladosporium, Penicillium, Alternaria, Stachybotrys atra. Mold is basically a fungi grows anywhere moisture and oxygen is present. While outdoor mold perform decomposition of organic material, the indoor mold causes health problems like asthma, allergies and many others.

There are thousand of species of molds, but few are very common in households which can be divided in to three groups as Toxigenic, Allergenic and pathogenic according to the human response.

The connection between human sickness and household mold is still being studied, however, there is growing evidences show strong link between the two. Some of these include asthma symptoms or worsened asthma symptoms. Frequent nausea, respiratory problems, rashes and fatigue are commonly seen in mold affected areas.

So the first thing to focus on is dehumidifying your house. Bathroom, basement, kitchen are the places which add water of water to the air inside your house.

There are various ways to make its effect minimum. Install an exhaust fan above your stove, paint your concrete floor with the paint specially designed for basement floors. Run a dehumidifier and check it regularity. Make sure the landscaping slopes are away from the house.
